Sep. 5th, 2022 11:32 amTorii's father was the rhythm guitarist of Dethklok a moderately well-known band of the late '60s/early '70s, they were a phenom of the time, and still have a reasonably stable fan base in certain circles. Her mother is an aerobics instructor and self-taught physical therapist.
Which is to say that Torii comes from money. Not one of The Wealthy Elite, but she's never had to worry about basically anything in her life. As much as she loves her dad, as she's grown, Torii doesn't want his name to open any doors for her that she wouldn't be able to open on her own merits and skills, which is why she uses her mom's last name.
She's got three siblings:
There's her sister the tattoo artist/mechanic/motorcycle enthusiast/world traveler
Her other sister the sustainable-living-is-totally-possible type (probably living on a commune somewhere)
Her brother who works for a Vague Yet Menacing Government Agency
Ostensibly so far the theory is that she met Will Byers in college (where she's majoring in fashion/costume design) because their friends groups overlapped, but honestly she could get patched in basically anywhere along the timeline.
